BSE was established in 1997, making it one of the longest standing independent skate shops in Canada. Jay Bridges, owner and founder of BSE, spent many of his early years shooting videos and travelling the world as senior photographer for SBC Skateboard Magazine. His photography work for SBC landed him jobs shooting ad campaigns for a variety of companies from DGK to Reebok.

In 1997, Jay's love of the skateboarding world inspired him to open his shop, in true nineties style, that first shop was located in the back of his Navy Blue Safari Van. After The Van Days, Jay moved BSE to a storefront in his hometown of Belleville. In 2013 BSE found a home in the city of Kingston Ontario, where it has been running for the last eight years. As of 2020, Jay and his partner Jenna have expanded the business to include a coffee bar, moving into a bigger space with a private back courtyard.

BSE is a place where people can find decks, hard goods, apparel and shoes that reflect today's modern skateboarding scene. Jay provides the newest trends in the industry while respecting and paying tribute to the old school days of skateboarding that he grew up in. At any time walking into the shop you will find him gripping boards, catching up with long time regulars or even refurbishing vintage decks. The coffee bar is open daily and serves Quietly Coffee a brand out of Stirling Ontario. Come by for a coffee and check out the selection of skateboarding hardgoods, shoes and apparel.
